About UM4P

U Move 4 Peace (UM4P) is the youth movement of Pax Christi Flanders and aims at young people between 18 and 30 years old. Everything is done for and by youth. UM4P works on three levels where it creates encounters and dialogue peace projects between youth using expressive and artistic methods (theatre, music, photography,…) and other methods.

  • On an international level UM4P organises summer exchanges and trainings with youth from conflict areas such as Israel, Palestine, Burundi, DR Congo, Chechnya and Northern-Ireland. During ten days camps youth learns about the different conflicts and cultures, does political and touristic tours and gets tools to become a peace activist.
  • On a national level UM4P creates projects between youth from the different regions in Belgium being from Flanders, Walloons and Brussels. Through different methods such as art and discussions UM4P stimulates the dialogue and brings youth closer together.
  • On a local level UM4P works together with youth from different cultural backgrounds living in Belgium the multicultural society.

Overall UM4P organises trainings and workshops on demand on themes from conflict management, art and conflict, peacebuilding, non-violent communication, … for youth, schools and youth organizations. UM4P is a full member of the international youth peacebuilding network, UNOY Peacebuilders.

U Move 4 Peace (UM4P) is de jongerenwerking van Pax Christi Vlaanderen. De doelgroep zijn jongeren tussen 18 en 30 jaar. De hele werking gebeurt voor en door jongeren. UM4P is op drie domeinen actief. Hier creëert het ontmoetingen en vredesprojecten tussen jongeren, gebruik makend van expressieve en artistieke methoden (theater, muziek, fotografie,…) en andere methoden.

  • Op internationaal niveau organiseert UM4P in de zomer uitwisselingsprojecten met jongeren uit conflictgebieden, zoals Israël en Palestina, Burundi, Congo, Tsjetsjenië en Noord-Ierland. Tijdens deze tiendaagses leren ze over de cultuur en de conflicten waarmee jongeren uit die landen te maken hebben, en verwerven ze vaardigheden waarover een vredesactivist moet beschikken.
  • Op nationaal niveau organiseert UM4P projecten met jongeren uit Vlaanderen, Wallonië en Brussel. Via diverse methodieken, zoals kunst en debatten, stimuleert UM4P de dialoog tussen hen.
  • Op lokaal niveau werkt UM4P in onze multiculturele samenleving samen met jongeren met uiteenlopende culturele achtergronden.

Op aanvraag biedt UM4P ook aan jongerengroepen, scholen en jeugdbewegingen trainingen en workshops aan rond thema’s zoals conflicthantering, theater en conflict, vredesopbouw, geweldloze communicatie… U Move 4 Peace is volwaardig lid van het internationaal jongeren vredesnetwerk, UNOY Peacebuilders.
